Hi all,

I need to create a on /off graphic for some text in my title block.
Basically we have several stages of issue which appear on our title block
Preliminary
Building License
Tender
Construction

What I would like to do is have these in my title block family and have the ability to turn them on and off through the element properties as required, on individual sheets.

This was done in cad as layer control ie freeze the ones you don't want on.
(I know, i need to drop the CAD mentality. I am just trying to figure out how to get the same end result)

Is this possible? If so can someone please shed some light on this for me.

Exporting to dwg file
Is there any way, when exporting a Revit file to dwg, to separate the wall types onto individual layers in the dwg file? ie

masonry
concrete insitu
concrete precast etc.

Currently all I can manage is to have them export onto a generic wall layer. (I will be so glad when more of our consultants switch to Revit )

Hi

You could follow the following procedure to have the stages of issue turn on / off
After you insert the text note, select it and look at its properties. You'd see a parameter 'Visible" . To the right, you have an associate icon. click it and the add parameter opens up. Insert a parameter say 'Prelim '. If you load this back into your project, and select your titleblock, your parameters will include Prelim, which you can turn on/off. You can do the same for the other stages of issue

On your export to DWG, i dont think there is a way that you are going to get walls into layers with those names. However, if you apply an override, for example, via a filter, then you can split the walls exported into different layers and then rename them in AutoCAD. On your export to DWG options, select "All Properties by Layer , new layers for overrides" under layers and properties.

i'm not sure i have been too clear. incase you need help, let me know!!

cheers

We just have a instance based text parameter called status box in our titleblocks - so we put "Work in Progress", "For Comment", "For Construction" etc. This means it is very flexible (can have nothing there also), downside perhaps is that anyone can type in whatever they want! (spelling mistakes included...!)

Hey there,

I personally prefer to have "yes/no" parameters for my Titleblock family. I have yes/no check boxes set up for my seal, "Preliminary, Not for Construction" rubber stamp, the City's approval stamp for sign off, and others.

Makes for a simple method in my mind.

Good Luck and Welcome to Revit!
