I was using Autocad Architecture 2008 and there was a button in the layer manager named 'new layer from standard' where I could create a new layer name using the AIA cad layer standards template. I just got 2009 installed and it doesn't have that button anymore. What happened?

AutoCAD Architecture vs AutoCAD?

yes.

It used to make layer standards creation very easy. I could go through the whole process of making a reference file so I can make a DWS file but that would just be killer. Could I get a DWS file from somewhere to use?

I'm still confused. Are you saying you received AutoCAD Architecture 2009 or AutoCAD 2009? If just AutoCAD, it never had this feature. If Architecture, then this thread should be garner you more answers if it was in the AEC forums.

After reviewing what I had wrote I see where I made it confusing, sorry.

First I had Architecture 2008
Now I have Autocad 2009

So this feature does not exist in plain Autocad. Well that is really unfortunate. It is a great tool that should be included in all drafting products by Autodesk.

So I guess I have to just create my own reference file from scratch for Interiors. Is there an easier way? I guess I could just use the 2008 that was left on my computer to create the file and transfer it over to my 2009 files.?????

You could create a template file that contains the layers you want and then use Design Center to import them as needed.
