My text has always been black in my properties palette and in the layer manager (layer palette in 2009). Are you referring to vp overrides?if so, it is solved under the layer settings button (little wrench in the top right), viewport override background color

ccowgill, as you can see the text is black with a black background inside the white background it is supposed to be. I have never seen such a thing and when you return to paper space it changes back.

I've seen similar behaviour in earlier releases and it was always fixed by a video card driver update.

Jaberwok.
Yes I have seen that problem too. That was all text boxes. not just a few in one tab. I updated the graphic drivers this morning and no difference at all. Thank you.

Thank you for all your help gentlepeople,
I have figured it out. AutoCAD is keeping track of the layers that have been modified in the viewport by use of layer sets. all modified layers and layer properies have a background color set to them so that you can see what has been modified. I mistakenly set the color to white. and since the background color is already white AutoCAD inverted the color to black making it unreadable.
Thanks again

i'll have to remember that, but we dont have too many users that change the vp override settings, I dont think 3/4 of them even know it exists.
