I would like to modify a wall so that some of my materials in the wall run up higher than my CMU blocks. How do I get rid of a chunk of the CMU block by editing the wall in element properties, so that the insulation and other materials run up another 2ft?

I checked the help files but didn't find anything that made any sense.

There are quite a few threads on this subject.

It sounds as though you are wanting to unlock the layers in the wall.

This recent thread gives a couple of views on the pros and cons of unlocking versus creating separate walls:

I'm more or less am looking for a step by step kind of process for doing this. I found the help file on it wasn't really clear as to the process for doing this to walls.

That is perftect. Thanks a lot for the help!!

I was on the right track, but I thought I was supposed to be editing the that material within the preview of the wall type. Once I found out, I unlocked it and then went back to the element properties and was able to edit that extension distance.

Thanks again!
