Expansion Control Joints on Floor Slabs

Is there a way I can model expansion and control joints on floor slabs, such as using reveal or similar?

To avoid over modeling, if you don't need it to show on 3D views, just use model lines. But if you have to show it in 3D, you can split your slab in two and add a slab edge (if the expansion joint has a special shape like the one attached.)

+1 for model lines, or a Line Based Generic model that only has a line in it, or some other symbolic reference...
