Steel Truss Family

I created a custom steel truss. When I go to place it, I get this error "Can't create this kind of element in this view in the current mode." It happens in elevation, plan or 3D views. I just dragged it from the project browser, is there a different way that I should place it?

I think I found my answer. I can't place "beams" in MEP. Does anyone know a workaround for this? Could I build this truss as a different family type?

What about as a generic model?

Under Settings>Family Catagories and Parameters

You should be able to change it from structural framing to any other object you need.
