REVIT MATERIAL LIBRARY?

Does anyone know where the default Revit Material Library is located on the C: drive...and if it can be edited outside of Revit?

With Revit 2008 you would find it under documents and settings. With Revit 2009 you will find it under program files, although you can't add materials there as far as I am aware.
