We are putting together a rendering computer. (Rendering is taking way to long) We have been told that a Render farm is the way to go, but I am sure that Revit will work in a Render Farm. So we want to put together a real nice rendering computer. Any suggestions?
We currently running for molding a Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.4GHz with 4 MB of ram and a XP 32bit professional and a Ge Force 8800 Graphics card which we are not very with (we are looking to upgrade to a the new NVIDIA Quatro 3700)
Thanks

If this is a computer intended to render while no one is working on anything else at that machine, then you don't really need more than 4 cores, as that is the maximum that Revit rendering will use.
Also, you don't really need anything more than a baseline QuadroFX 128MB card. Anything more for Revit is just a waste of money.
My machine is a dual dual-core Xeon 2.66 GHz, 4 GB RAM, XP32, and a QuadroFX 560 128MB graphics card works VERY well for rendering, even with the new Mental Ray.

What I would do is spend the $3,500 on Max. That gets you vastly better rendering, and it's got a render farm utility that is quite easy to set up.
