Currently, I have two drainage pipes that were modeled previously in revit, starting from the roof of the building to the ground floor. Mind you, these pipes were drawn as an in-place family. However, the "bend" that occurs on the fourth floor where it translates into a vertical drop is consistently shown on each floor below it. I heard this is a view range bug, but I haven't gotten a chance to confirm. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? Its a bit frustrating to see your simple pipes shown as exhaust pipes rather than simple 6" diameter holes on each floor plan. :(

No it is not a bug. First make sure your family is set to something cuttable (like generic model). If you are using plumbing fixtures, it is not cuttable and therefore will show its extents. To do that, edit your family, go to Settings > Family Category and Parameters and change it to a cuttable family.

Also, make sure you set the depth clipping (new in Revit 2009) under view properties, to clip the extents.
