i've installed the latest drivers , latest version of revit, and latest sevice pack for xp. i can't print multiples with revit. i've tried the revit pdf writer and have had no real improvement.
is anyone else having the same problem with printing? :?
or could anyone advise me how to print without these errors?

What type of errors are you getting?
I'm using a similar setup (XP printing to HP5 si) and havn't had any major problems, other than it printing the border light on about the 4th sheet through (discussed in a previous thread).
What settings are you using in setup? (raster, vector, color settings)

I went and had a look at his setup today (in return for lunch in a cafe by the beach!), we were able to get it to print using raster, although that screwed up some of the hatches.
In vector it would stop part way across the page, or add artefacts in the titleblock, or drop colours. Real problem is that the issues manifested are inconsistent. Printing from Win 2000 with 640Mb RAM to HP500 with 16Mb RAM. Got the same problems printing from my laptop Win XP with 1Gb RAM, although this was via printer sharing through the Win2k machine. Haven't tried connecting my laptop direct to the printer yet...

The problem may be related to the way printer is setup. Printing from Revit sometimes overwhelms printers if they are not set up to process data on a computer which sends printing requests (but do it on printer). There is a section about this topic in Revit Help. Open print dialog and press Printing Tips button. There is some mentioning of DesighJet there. HTH.
for our printer there is a setting to process the document in the printer or in the computer. We have a 430, but the same option will most likely be there for your printer also. Right click on your printer, go to properties and the printing preferences. There is an advanced tab, click on that and then select the ....in computer option. It will warn you about speed, but it will actaully print faster and you wont have problems with printer memory.

Turning off the printer's "Enable SpoolSmart" setting solved several users' HP 500 issues which involved not being able to print raster images on a printed sheet.
We're still researching the new incompatability (Revit 2009 could use SpoolSmart), but this workaround might solve other HP issues as well...

I also have a designjet 500ps and experienced those issues as well. It seems even with 160MB of ram the plots from revit were using all of it and causing the first sheet to fail due to memory errors.
There is a setting under troubleshooting in the printing preferences dialog named “send job as bitmap…” which fixed all my issues.
