View Full Version : Adjustable Lines in Title Blocks

I have been trying to get the "Notes" line in our title block to be adjustable (By default at grid F, but can be moved up and down depending on sheet layout) but have not been successful.
Basically I created a refence line; dimensioned from the ref line to the notes line; made that an instance parameter. That allows me to "move" the notes line but it actually leave the notes line where it was and moves the title block so that I get something like the image below.
I have tried dimensioning between 2 reference lines, between a reference line and a detail line, 2 sets of dimensions, and a few other things all with the same results.
Is it possible to lock two of the items and get the note line to move within the title block or is this just a functionality of the title block family?

Add reference lines to the top of the titleblock and another to the bottom of the titleblock. Lock the titleblock lines to the reference lines. This will prevent the titleblock from moving.
See attached example.

Ok so I see how that works.. mostly. Still if someone drags the reference line instead of the actual line the entire border shifts up and down (I tried your example and one of my own; both with the same result).
I tried making the reference line not a reference but that just eliminates both grips. I would like to have the functionality of moving the lines but not at the expense of possibly moving the border....
Is there something else I am missing?

cant you just pin the objects you want to keep still..?

It still has the same affect. If I drag a reference line it drags the entire border (pinned or un pinned. If neither one is a reference line then they both drag the entire border.
It seems like the stronger reference takes the border with it. If they are equal then they both take the border with it.
Basically I have the funtionality I want its just the extra grip that I am concerned about. If people drag the correct grip then it just moves the lines; if they grab the wrong one then everything moves.
I hate to say it but even autocad will allow you to activate one grip and not the other.... I would think you could do the same with Revit but so far have not found a way to do so.

It would be a useful feature what you are trying to do.
I have some people here who achieved a similar result by adding different Types into the Tblock family. SO, end user can select the type of layout grid they want to run with...
Not as dynamic as your effort, but usable.

It's unfortunate but annotation families are just "wired" differently from model families.

Thats kind of what I figured.... Thanks for the confirmation.
