I did a search for a solution for resolving the thumbnail issue in Vista 32 bit and couldn't find anything. I had an XP system and it display the family thumbnails. It even displayed families going back to Revit 5. I recently got a new system with Vista and I can't see the families. Please help if you have a solution.

Thanks.

not shure that's a OS problem, i had something similar with Win XP 32, only solved if I update familys to last version of Revit.

Thanks for your comment Fernando. How do you update the family. I used to be able to see all the families in Window Explorer in XP, but I cannot see them in Vista.

If you look on the installation CD/DVD there is a batch utility for updating families. Follow its instructions, and it will open/save the families to update them to the latest version.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the instructions. I did as you suggested. I can see it now when I am in the Load Family Menu. Before upgrading to Vista from XP, I was able to see the thumbnails in Windows File Explore, but I still cannot see it even after upgrading the files as you have suggested. I use to have Window Explorer open with the thumbnails display and just drag the file I need into Revit. But I cannot do this in Vista. Am I missing a viewer or something?

I don't have Vista on either the office or my home computer, so I can't help you with that one.

If you look in these threads some users seem to run Vista 32 and thumbnails are OK, while others have no thumbnails - no explanation though.
Vista 64 and RAC definitely has a problem with thumbnails but that's a known issue.
