So I'm reading along in the New Features of 2009, and I come upon a mock schedule demonstrating the new units formatting feature in 2009. Problem is I can't seem to duplicate the schedule. When I try to create a calculated value with the Area, it will only allow me to use Area as the type. When using area I can't select the $ as the unit symbol. Not sure how they came up with this schedule, but I'd like to know.

I'm not sure I understood your issue but let's say you have the fields Area and Cost and want to have a calculated field for Area x Cost = Total Cost. Since Area has SF units, you first have to get rid of the units by dividing it by 1. The formula for the calculated "Total Cost" would be (Area/1)*Cost.

After that go to Formating tab > select the field Total Cost > Select "Field format" > Uncheck "Use project settings" > Select the unit symbol you want (like $ for instance).

I hope it helps,

Andre to the rescue again, that worked out great. Can't believe I didn't think of that.
