A few renderings of a contemporary kitchen design. Modeled and rendered in ACA 2009. Most of the objects were custom made. Let me know what you think. I could really use some tips on lighting. Thanks.

On your counter top did you use a mass element, a slab or a solid? One thing to note with curved surfaces and mass elements, they CAN'T do curves, only facets. I'd love to see what those views look like when you kick up the quality. The tiling that's being produced takes away from the overall scene. Great Work.

The counter tops are mass elements. I'm playing with different methods for curved objects. I couldn't agree more about the tiling. It's still a work in progress. Thanks for the comments!

For the curve issue you could just use a solid and apply a material map.
Just a thought.
As for the tiling, I'd suggest, doing a window test. Just render a small part of the whole and render it at a high end. Then you should be able to get a better feel for the final scene.
Good luck and keep up the great work.

I can not for the life of me get the right setting for frosted glass! What material settings did you use!?!
If I understand the process correctly, it should be a low opacity, middle to high transparency, and a refraction index of something like 1.5ish. Can you please post your numbers and save me from my frosted glass nightmare?
Great Renderings by the way - Mine aren't quite there yet but hopefully with more practice they will be.
Thanks,
T

I actually used a rice paper texture on the glass. If you're using ACA 2008 or 2009 there should already be a frosted glass material in the glazing section under door and windows. If you don't have one, use a clear glass, change the color to a light blue and under the diffuse map, click and down arrow and select noise. Then you'll have to play with it until you get the look that you want. Hope this helps.
