This is the same Revit we are using now. The difference is that it includes a copy of AutoCAD with it.

Correction: It includes a copy of AutoCAD Architecture with it.

RIP AA. I guess that means Revit wins if they're giving away free copies of AA. Does that mean that we can get some of the programming tallent being wasted on AA moved over to Revit now?

wait...
why would an office want to use AA and Revit at the same time
or is this at different work stations.... I thot AA actually was more popular..

It is more about providing an easier way for those using AutoCAD Architectue to transition to Revit (if they want to.) They can keep old projects active under AutoCAD Architecture while ramping up production on Revit projects. This allows this kind of transition under 1 license.
I wish this was around when my old office was transitioning to Revit.

So, I guess the "include AutoCAD with Revit" thing worked pretty well for you guys. Enough plain, vanilla AutoCAD users are using Revit now. Now they have to go after the AA people. Actually a smart move.

I'm pretty certain that this only applies to Revit Architecture Suite. It's just like when you subscribe to Revit MEP Suite, you get AutoCAD MEP with it, but not if you just get Revit MEP (without the Suite).

I don't know about popular, but there are a lot more AA licences out there than Revit.
AA/ADT has had several more years of Autodesk marketing muscle behind it. However, (if the gossip that I've heard occasionally over the last year or two is true) AA sales have been declining while the Revit sales curve just keeps getting steeper.

I actually watched the webcast, which was aimed at resellers. It's just a marketing/bundling thing. They said there are no new technical features with 2009.1. Terrible naming, eh? -- when one has any perspective of how the Revit versions have been named in the past. Why not use a more marketing-driven name like Revit Deluxe Suite Omni-Pro?
It would have to be REVIT "ARCHITECTURAL" DELUXE SUITE OMNI PRO 2009.1.:)

That is so cold. Are you implying that you'd like a Revit version that has all of its functions turned on?
