Help!! I have this scan of a building. The point cloud was changed into polymeshes and polyfaces in Autocad. I have imported it into a mass family in revit so I can change wall, floor, etc. by face. The problem is that the faces are all triangulated so one wall is actually about 50 small pieces. Also, it won't let me import the whole thing because there are too many faces created by imported meshes. I remember finding some lisp routine once that allowed you to explode polymeshes and recreate them, this seemed to help a little. But now I can't remember how I did that. There must be a better way!
Thanks,
Heather

You'll probably want to work the data a little more in AutoCAD first.

One routine I've found that helps a lot is OVERKILL. It removes duplicates and cleans up polylines. I forget if it also cleans up polymeshes.

If there was some way to convert your meshes into solids in AutoCAD, that too could help.

Also, do you have access to 3D Studio Max? There are a ton of nice tools in there for cleaning up dense meshes...
