Family Issue

I have a window family that I got from a AU Revit class, but the problem is that I can not edit it. Every time I pick the window family, it does not show the option "edit family" like any other family. I tried to go to the Project browser and when I select the window family and make right click the "edit" option is not available. Any ideas?

It's an old family! At one time, the option didn't exist to open families from within a project. These families don't get the option even when upgraded.

You may need to rebuild the family in a new template to get it to work.

You may be in a view that does not allow selecting the family for editing. Try opening another view (plan, section, elevation) and see if the edit family option shows up.
