preview not working when loading components

When I try to load a door, window, or any other component I can't see the preview of what it looks like. It's making it really tough to find out what type of door I'm actually loading if I'm looking for one with a specific look to it. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Before anyone can help, we need to know what operating system, what version of Revit you are using, and is the library from an older version of Revit?
