How can I modify or create my own slab edge? I can't seem to figure it out because it belongs to a "system family".

First, you have to create a profile. Start a new family (File > New > Family > Profile) and draw it there. Once it is done, load it into the project and go to Modelling > Host Sweep > Floor Slab edge. Pick any one and go to Properties > Edit/New... > Duplicate > Give it a new name > select the profile you just created and loaded, to be used by the slab edge.

I just tried to create a closure angle as a slab edge.
Is there any way to apply a masking region to the closure angle to hide the cslab that the edge is applied to?

What worked for me was, I created a detail component with a masking region to represent my closure plate. Create a profile using the detail component. Then load it into a project. Create your slab edge with the profile your just created. Bring it into a section and this should mask the concrete fill. Hope this works.
