I am relatively new to Revit and trying to focus on creating a stair. I want a stair with wide flanges as stringers with the stairs recessed inside, but don't know how to create that. I was told I could use a railing with a wide flange profile to create the stringer but that does not allow me to edit the ends of the stringer (i.e. trimming stringer at landing). Does anyone have any good suggestions?

If this is just an isolated stair, you probably want to do these elements as an in-place family.

I use a railing with a C-channel profile all the time for steel stair stringers. If you run the railing continuous around the landing then it trims and cleans up fine.

Patrick, I'm going this route, but having a few problems with it cleaning up. Are you offsetting the profile in the rail structure or are you offsetting it in the profile itself?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
