View Full Version : View randomly jumping around

I've noticed that every now and then when I'm doing something I'll click somewhere and suddenly I'll be viewing a completely different part of the model. It last happened when I selected a scope box, and then deselected it by clicking into empty space.
Any idea what's doing it? It's getting slightly annoying having to pan back to where I was and wait for it to regen again.

You can easily flip back to your previous zoomed view. Just type in Zoom, and select Previous. I think AutoCAD remembers the last ten or so views, anything after that is lost. However in the options dialogue User preferances tab, you can combine these with Undo, and revert to any previous view. Also you can turn off regens with the regenmode system variable turned to 0.
Why it's happening is dependant on your graphics card/mouse/cad double click settings.

Umm....
Thanks for the help... though I'm talking about Revit.

Opps!
Well in Revit just type in ZP for Zoom previous. You can speed up the regen, by selecting open GL from the options dialogue, but this dosn't suit all graphics cards. Experiment to find out if it does.

I've had heaps of problems with openGL on this card. Getting back to the view isn't really the problem, the problem is the jumping in the first place. I'm not using any view controls and it just jumps to another part of the model. It's the same as a light randomly turning off. Yes, you can turn it back on easily, but why should you have to?

Sounds like a driver upgrade is required for your graphics card. Have a look at your mouse settings too, from the windows control panel.

Already got the newest graphics drivers, and it's not a mouse problem because the input is getting to the program, it's happening after the mouse input gets to the program.

Don't discount the mouse setting, as some have an enhanced graphic switch which may conflict with CAD data input.
What is your virtual memory setting? If it's low, perhaps upping the value, will append better performance.
Another option would be to check if you have a clean computer from the AC$/DMP/ERR junk files from ungracefull exits from Revit/AutoCAD, as this can create unexpected errors if left to incrementally grow.
