solid to mesh

Anyone knows how to convert 3d solid to 3d polymesh ?
It is beneficial to keep smooth importing into some kinds
of third parties software.

I believe 3DStudio converts imported solids to mesh.

3DSOUT will create a .3ds 3D Studio file, 3DSIN will bring it back in as a polyface mesh. For 2007+ you'll have to install 3DSOUT, get it at http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=9481286&linkID=9240618

On the wpage above, there is no info about the 2009 version.
