Hi Everyone,

I installed Revit 64 at work on XP64 with now problems so far. I installed in on my home computer which is Vista Ultimate 64. When I tried to run a spell check in Revit 64, I get the following error; “Access to C:\Programs\Revit Architecture 2009\Program\Custom.DIC was denied.”

When I play with the spelling options I get the same problem. I even looked for the file which I cannot find in Revit 32. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled it.

Any ideas guys? If anyone can figure it out, it is you!

Thanks a million,

I have the same problem with Vista. I think this is related with the way Vista deals with administrators rights. If you right click the Revit 2009 icon and choose "Run as Administrator" you won't find this problem...

By the way, are you sure you are logged as administrator?

thanks also André,

I assumed I was logged in as Administrator but the same problem occurred with the spellchecker tab in Options under Vista 64, and using 'run as administrator' allows the spellchecker to be accessed from Options.

Does that mean we always have to use 'run as administrator' for Revit 64 in order to have the spellchecker work would you know?

William,

I did run as administrator only once and now it always works. But I'm also logged as administrator.

thanks again André,

yes, it now works every time without needing to 'run as administrator'.

I am have the same problem with my XP64 and Revit 32 bit. I cant be logged in to the administrator at this company, it is company rules. but my account is setup at administrator at this time. We thought the same thing; that this was a permission issue, but it still didn't working. I also have the problem with editing my short keys text files again "permission issue", Do I physically need to log on to the "administrator" to get this to work? has anyone logged on to there regular user name to see if it continues to work?

No you don't. Ask your system administrator to give you full access rights to the revit folder.

Guys,

Have you tried turning User Account Control setting in Vista off?
I used to have the same problem with my shortcuts not being used unless I used the "run as admin" option. With User Account Control turned off, I no longer need to use that option anymore.

Ok I have full administration rights and I am still haveing the same trouble. When I tried to change anything in the Program X86 folder it comes up denied. (that includes spell-check) I am using XP64 and this sounds like this is mostly Vista users that are haveing this trouble. Is there any one else having this trouble with XP64 OS??
