LDD had a function that would allow you to type in a station and it would give you the profile elevation. I haven't been able to find out how to pick off design elevations from a profile by specifying the station....is this possible in C3d without having created a corridor and a fg surface?

Thanks,
Mark

If you want to know the elevation at a PVI then all you need to do is click the profile, right click and choose edit profile geometry. then click the 3rd button from the right on the profile layout tools toolbar. This is the "Profile Grid View".

I assume you actually want this though:

If you want an elevation at any given point on a profile you would need to add a Profile View Label. This would reference a station on a profile view and an elevation at the point you pick on the profile view. If you need it to be exact you can create a label style for a profile view label that references a profile's elevation at a station. Depending on how you create the label style it may look as though it isn't referencing your design profile. Look at the attachments to see what I am talking about. Also check out the help file in Civil 3D, they are more helpful than they have been in the past.

Good Luck,
Dustin

The Inquiry Tool will let you do that. Once you start it, you can type a station into the Inquiry Tool, or you can pick a point in the drawing. Click around in the Inquiry Tool a bit, and you'll see how it works. The little icons with the red X's let you pick a point in the drawing, or you can type values in the text boxes that don't have grey backgorunds.

Note that if you want to pick a point in the drawing (plan view) and ID the profile elevation, you have to use the Alignment Inquiry. If you use the Profile one, it will only let you pick points inside the Profile View. Both tools will let you key in a station, though.
