I’m having difficulties using the “picking host” tool, specifically with parking components. After I place the component and select it, I then “PICKING HOST” and then select topography, the component still appears to be floating or half submerged.(I’m placing parking lines).

I've gone to the Settings, Family Category and Parameters and saw that "Always Vertical" was unchecked for the parking lines. As well as other items that I'm trying to get to follow the sloped parking lot, still no luck

Does anyone have any other options I might check or am I just missing something simple?

Thanks,
Lee

Revit's parking components DO NOT work properly on sloped toposurfaces.
This issue has been with us since the very beginning.

A work around is to use subregions---placing each stripe on the toposurface,
with a white or yellow paint material. Very laborious, to say the least--but if you are
needing the parking stripes to appear correctly in 3D/renderings, it will work.

If rendering is your task--best way is to export via FBX into 3D Max, and place the stripes in Max by "draping" them onto the sloped parking surface. We ran into this on a large project, with several thousand parking spaces!

Cheers.....

I've also had this problem with a flower bed next to a set of stairs. I have ground cover that is straight out horizontal. Any way to over come this? Picking Host doesn't work with this either.
