I know I've seen this before and even played around with it once, but I cannot remember where or how I found it.

When you Lock a layer, the displayed items on that layer show up screened back.

Where's the control for this ? Some people here think it's screened back too much and want the locked layered items to show up brighter, but as I said above, I cannot find the control.

Thanks in advance.

LAYLOCKFADECTL

One way to help search for things like this is the Setvar command.
Command: SETVAR
Enter variable name or [?] <OSMODE>: ?
Enter variable(s) to list <*>: *fade*

LAYLOCKFADECTL 50
XFADECTL 50

I think you are looking for the LAYLOCKFADECTL system variable. You can also set it through the settings option of the LAYISO command, but I'm not sure why they didn't include the ability to set it in the LAYLCK command.:?
