I've been struggling with wood stairs in stick-built buildings.
I'd like to have a nosing condition at the finish floor match the typical nosing condition at stair treads. This seems to require either a little in-place family nosing strip to extend the floor as a nosing would extend, or else use a separate "finish" floor, for instance a 3/4" wood floor on top of structural floor.
What are others doing?

I've decided to use a slab edge profile.

I don't worry about it, since most likely I will have a detail of that condition anyway showing the actual construction with detail components.

Only place it should make a difference is if you were doing a rendering and you see the top of the stair, but even then you probably wouldn't see it close enough to make any difference. I would probably just paint the vertical edge face of the floor with the same material as your risers for that case.
