View Full Version : Center lines in round extrusions

I've been struggling with making piping connections on mechanical equipment. Previously I haven't had a problem because magically the round extrusions I've made have moved properly with the rest of the family when sizes change.

The most recent family (vertical heat pump) has been giving me troubles. So for reference, I opened an OOTB family. The piping connections in the family were locked to reference planes to allow them to move. If I edit the round extrusion, there is a "crosshair" to create something to align the extrusion to. However, when I try to recreate this in my family, I get an error saying that lines can't intersect.

A closer examination of the lines in the OOTB family shows that a "Center Mark Visible" parameter has been added. It seems that the factory is cheating... Does anyone know how to get this parameter?

Is there any documentation on how to align round extrusions? I can only align them on the Y-axis at a point on the semi-circle. There seems to be no way to align the other axis.

In a genereic family template draw a circle, select it and click on properties, there is a check box for Center mark visible.
