In MAP 2005, how do you enter lats & longs as points? Once I've entered the transparent command 'll, I'm prompted as follows:

>>Enter latitude <N0° 00' 00.00">: N9 42 0

>>Enter longitude <E0° 00' 00.00">: W-29 6 0

Resuming POINT command.
Specify a point:

The point entered is never accepted. I've tried formatting my repines several different ways, with no success.

By the way, I'm an old hand at "plain vanilla" ACAD, but a novice in MAP. My cohorts in the home office are using an older version of Autodesk MAP, and having success using lat & long input, but the answers provided for the prior version don't seem to work either. What might I be doing wrong?

Hello Rlarabee,

You need to type the Lats and Longs in with the degrees, minutes, and seconds characters:

Enter latitude <N0° 00' 00.00">: N9d42'0"

Enter longitude <E0° 00' 00.00">: W29d6'0"

Also you can use the track coordinates command (Map>> Tools>> Track Coordinates) by starting a command, typing the coordinates and clicking the Digitize button. be sure to set the format you want to input in first by clicking the Select Coordinate System button.

Hope this helps,

Jeremiah

Jeremiah,

Are you using 2005? I've tried your suggestion (again) unsuccessfully. I'm surely entering something wrong, or using a wrong sequence, or....

Anyway, would anyone wish to venture another suggestion?

THANKS!

Are you using the Civil Tools or just the standard point command? What are you entering trasnparently?
