I have a 3D model form a different modeling software, CadWork, that I am having trouble importing into Revit Architecture 2009. I can import it, I can only see it in 3D in Revit, I cannot explode it without loosing it (and being told to turn it into polymesh in Autocad first) and cannot do anything of any obvious use with it...

help?

You will not want to explode it. Revit cannot use exploded geometry from other software. You will need to use the model as an under lay to rebuild your geometry using revits tools. The only exception is as a mass element, if you create and in-place mass family, then import your dwg file into that you cna then use the surfaces to create revit walls, roofs and floors from.

Or, just use it as a background and build your stuff around it. For example, if you receive a structural model from an engineer and you want to build your architecture around it.
