I am a new user to Revit. I am trying to edit a titleblock so I only have to enter the information for the parameter once at Settings -> Project information. I seem to be able to make it work except I am trying to see if there is a way I can just load the titleblock into the project without having to go and add the parameter to the project first. It just seems a bit pointless - I am sure there is something I am missing as there is other fields already created in my titleblock which do what I am trying to achieve. Any thoughts?

Well, to me it seems pointless too but the reality is that you have to add the same shared parameters to your project, so it can recognize them in your title block.
Ideally, when you load your title block, all the parameters (including shared) should be added automatically too - this would be very REVIT way...
Unfortunately that is not the way.
However, you don't have to do it to every new project! You have to do it only once - to your template file and then base every new project on it...
