RAC 2008
Hello. I have been working on our company titleblock, and everything seems to work fine (the way we want), except for the "Drawn By" and "Checked By" parameters. They are, I believe, instance parameters, which requires us to change the values on every sheet. We would like them to be included in the Project Information section, requiring us to only input the information once. Is there a way to change their status, or should I create two new shared parameters and load them into our template file as well?
Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you need to create new shared parameter in the title block family, Remenber that once you create the new parameters, you need to load again the same parameters in the project and specify them like "Project Information" parameters.

I suspect the easiest way to do this is to create the new shared parameters being sure to assign them to both Project Information and Drawing Sheets. I am curious though why managing them as an instance parameter isn't better or at least more flexible? Just not something I've come across yet. Also, I create background Drawing Lists displaying just about all of the Sheet parameters so i can better manage and edit in one place if need be. This list is in addition to one that would be on a cover sheet.

Thanks for the replies. I kind of figured I would need to create the shared parameters; I created a bunch of them yesterday, what's two more?
The reason we're wanting it set up this way is because there are only two of in the office--there aren't going to be that many people involved.
Thanks again for the replies.

Do we need to show the drawn by and checked by info? This has been carried over from the CAD days and we had removed it from our sheets...lots of ppl work on the same sheet in revit, etc.
Does you client want this info? Or are there any reason you would want to show this info on sheets?

I'm also in a 2 person office, and we do have the drawn by, checked by, etc on our title block. I can see the reasoning for taking this off the title blocks in this day and age, however, while we still have them on the sheet my question is this...
In 2009 you can change what the default text is for these parameters, however, when I change this to be me or my boss in the label's properties, it does not carry over when I load it into a project? What am I doing wrong? Since there are only two of us at the moment I'd like the default to be me or my boss so don't have to change it on each sheet, until a third person joins the firm and we need to start worrying about it.
Now I am just selecting all the sheets in the project browser and changing the parameter on all the sheets at once, which is ok, until I forget that I'v added a new sheet and don't catch it until I print them.

Im a strong proponent for removing them, in a model centric work environment. OR, listing everyone who touches the project there.
I may have touched the sheet, but everyone touched the model... Scapegoat city, hahaha...

We've never shown these, even in the CAD days, so I can't relate to the need for them. I think Aaron's dead on though - everyone effects every sheet (except for those pesky few sheets covered in drafting views...). For these built in parameters like this, I typically create an additional schedule and sort for the fields I want to control like Type parameters, and then uncheck "All Instances" This effectively rolls up all the elements with the same values in those fields into one line in the schedule, making it simple to change multiples at once. It also let's you see when you've missed one! Works great for instance parameters in doors once you get to CDs and you don't want 53 different door "types"...

I know this is an outdated thread but
cant you just edit the titleblocks in your template file and add the correct initials as simple text to start with or do you need the info to display in schedules?
