Hi there,
Our office is wanting to try out Revit Architecture 2009, so we downloaded the install files & SP 1 release from the Autodesk site. I have just installed a Stand-Alone Revit Architecture 2009 on our office PC (Windows XP Pro SP3), and installed all the additional content from the internet, which downloaded over 2GB of data for the content.
We have as yet not played around with it in the office, but I am also wanting to install this on my laptop at home (Windows XP Pro SP3). I tried copying the RAC 2009 file, to put in the relevant location on my laptop, so as to not need to download 2GB of data, as I dont have that kind of bandwidth at home.
I am constantly getting an error that says "The Rendering library is not installed. All Rendering features will now be disabled".
Is there way of installing the downloaded Revit Architecture 2009, with all the content etc., but without having to download the content all over again? Can I not just copy certain files from the successful install, from the internet, to my laptop?
Please advise?
Thanks.

The only way I'm aware of is to get a demo CD from a dealer. The downloaded EXE file does not have everything in it, and appears to be hard coded to look on the internet for additional content.

Install the downloaded EXE, and then choose to configure the installation, and uncheck all the content. After installing, I believe you can simply copy the content etc. from the computer where you´ve allready installaed a Revit, and downloaded the content...
Worth a shot.... ?

Download from the Autodesk Website and then when you double click on setup select "Create Deployment" (which you should put on your server) rather than "Install Product".
This will then download all content that you have chosen from the internet and store it on your server.
You can then install the deployment on other PCs without downloading all of the content again on each PC.

Yes. You can do it. Go to Settings > options > places and locate your imp lib file location in your server. You can copy this folder to your laptop.
Also go to the settings > options > rendering and note the render appearance lib location. (assetlibrary_base.fbx) Eventhough the rendering lib has giga bytes of data, you may not need to copy it into your laptop if you dont render it in your laptop. You can just copy the file assetlibrary_base.fbx and path it correctly in your laptop version and it will not give you the error.

@ Andrew:
I realised I should've done that in the first place, since that would've been much better, should we decide to upgrade after our trial period expires.
@ Munkholm & ijnicholas:
I have gotten it to work by doing it this way -
1). install from downloaded EXE file (which is extractable btw so you can see SETUP.EXE)
2). click on CONFIGURE during installation
3). click on "SKIP CONTENT INSTALLTION" which greys out all the material & template options available
4). and continue installation
5) the ONLY download it will then do, is the HELP files for Revit 2009, which are not that big in size.
6). after install is done copy the following folders (from a another machine or deployment) to these locations
a) RAC 2009 - "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk"
b) Data - "C:\Program Files\Revit Architecture 2009
7). Overwrite any existing files
8). Restart your machine
9). Start up Revit 2009, and go to Options to do the settings as mention above by ijnicholas.
10) run your trial
Thanks for the responses.
Cheers.
