Good Morning AUGI Members:

Our company has Architectural Desktop version 2005 so that we can work on project teams with architectural firms who have ADT 2005. We do not know much about the ADT application.

We are receiving drawings from the architect that contain a combination of some 2D elements and 3D ADT objects and we need to produce a flat 2D plan representing the floor plan for that specific floor. We are not interested in any of the 3D components but want a floor plan that can be used with AutoCAD 2005 so we use this plan as a background for our drawings. Since the architect is sending us the plans one at a time there is no project information associated with the drawing.

Is there a simple way to generate 2D floor plans from the ADT model..??

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Regards,
Vince

Under the "File"menu in ADT 2005 you can select the "Export to AutoCAD" command that will the the ADT drawing and transform it into lines arcs and circles for use in Standard AutoCAD, You will of course loose all advantages of the AEC objects and once this is done it can't be reversed.

I would imagine the best course would be to use the original
plans as XREFs only and turn off all un-needed layers.
Basically use the original data as an underlay to what you
draw on top of it.
In this fashion you leave the original data intact, and still
related to what they sent you, and if that data changes
replacing the xref, will instantly show you where the plan has changed
due to the linework not being the same in the areas the plan has changed.

I tried the "Export To AutoCAD" option and it worked fine.

Thank you for your assistance.....!
