I'm trying to create a specific dimension style but I not able to get the results I want using the standard DDIM command. I need the dimension text to be placed outside extension line 2 on a leader that is at a 30 degree angle from the dimension line. I'll attach a small sketch that that will do better at explaining what I am looking for. Is this possible using standard AutoCAD or is there a separate program available to create custom dimension styles like this?

Hi
Please note I've *moved* this thread from the AutoCAD Customization (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=118) Forum to this one as I feel this particular Forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.
Thanks, Mike

Hi
Give the following attached drawing file a look over, I think it's something like what you're after.
Sorry haven't got the time to develop / experiment further.... but hopefully it will point you in the right direction.
Have a good one, Mike

Mike,
I finally got to look at it this morning (our firewall wouldn't let me access it). I think it will work perfectly for what I need. How does one go about creating something like this?
Thanks a lot for the help.

Hi
Give the drawing file I posted a good look over, especially the properties of the Dimension Style I used.
If still no joy get back to us here and I will step through the process.
Have a good one, Mike
ps Please note I'm not be awkward or unhelpful here, I just believe in the phrase "learn to fish".

Jared:
You should be able to import Mike Perry's dimension style with Design Center. [Ctrl +2].
Just rename it to a unique name in the drawing Mr. Perry (his courtroom name) provided.

Hey Mike,
I looked it over, and not really knowing what Jareds original dimstyle looked like, and not having time to really compare them, I am curious to know how you did that. I gave it a quick shot, but wasn't able to do it. For the good of ALL AUGI people, might you please let us know what you did change to accomplish that.

Dim/Oblique works wonders!
Similar to dimensioning in isometric but without the textstyles.
Well done, Mike.

Take a look at Jared's original drawing (posted in original message), then compare it with the one I posted.
If you (or anyone else) spend some real time on this issue / problem then still require a little more assistance / help I will then gladly go though the procedure I took.
I just believe we all learn a little more if we try and resolve issues / problems ourselves (or at least attempt to), I don't believe in spoon-feeding (sorry).
For the good of ALL AUGI people, might you please let us know what you did change to accomplish that.Am sorry such a throwaway comment is not going to suddenly make me change my philosophy on helping people.
And please don't take the above the wrong-way as I'm more than happy and willing to help anyone, but I'm not just going to spew out answers.
Have a good one, Mike
