View Full Version : Upgrading an existing wall - best practice?

im doing a conversion where the existing 9" brick wall is remaining but we are adding battens and 80mm of insulation to it.

what would be the best way, to make a new wall out of the above materials (prob is, the wall be all on one phase)

Use a second wall that is only the insulation and the battens, since its getting added on. That way the brick wall stays existing, and the new portion stays new construction...

ah im always thinking of the hardway to do things lol.

No problem. Also, if you have ant doors or windows in that wall, use Join gemoetry, and they will automatically cut out the new wall as well. The frames wont extend through the new wall, but i dont imagine theyre going to in real life either. ;)
