View Full Version : Elevation Tag - Level Reference?
I have a situation where a new Revit user unknowingly placed an elevation tag callout on the
Roof level verses the Floor level. Of course when they latter opened the floor plan they couldn't find the elevation tag.
There doesn't seem to be a way in the tag properties to reassign the elevation tag level reference.
If they hadn't spent so much time creating the elevations I would just have them create a new tag but I'm trying to salvage what they've already created. Any thoughts, recommendations or work arounds?
This was done in 2008.

I just tried to reproduce your issue and I cannot. I placed an interior and exterior elevation symbol in the roof plan, and it appeared in the first and second floor plans as well. Are you sure the elevations are not turned off in the view either individually or by category? There may be something I'm missing. If so, try this. Go to the roof plan view and select the elevation tag, and then choose Edit > Cut. Open the Floor Plan view and then choose Edit > Paste Aligned > Current View option.
Hope this helps,

Elevation tags will show up on any level through which they cut. So if the elevation is for the entire building then you will see it on the first floor all the way up to the roof. If you want an interior elevation then if it cuts through the first floor it will not show up on the second and visa versa.
Either that or try what mmates is suggesting in either visibility graphics or the light bulb (the only place you can see individual elements that have been hidden).

I'd also check to see if the plan is at a scale that the Elevation marker was turned off for (it's a long shot, but I've seen it happen)
Thanks for all your input. I'll trouble shoot the problem on Monday and get back to you.
I was pretty fried on Friday when this happened and probably overlooked one of the items mentioned here.
I did a check at home and the tag showed up fine on all the levels, even when the initial tag
was placed on the roof plan.
