I was trying to set up a couple of Temporary Overrides when ran into problems. I can not type anything in the box that specifies the key stroke. I can click in the box but nothing appears when I type. Is this a common problem or is this a newly found "feature" in autocad?

Is your Caps Lock on? You should turn it off to get correct key assignments.

You cannot add a shift + key combo?

You cannot add a shift + key combo? You can. Make sure Caps Lock is off to get the desired assignment.

RobertB - Thanks for the advice on the caps lock. That fixed part of the problem.

No matter what I type for the "key(s)", I get the message
"specified argument was out of range of valid values"

Do the keys have to something like "shift+x" or can it be "x"?

A temporary override is for use in the middle of a command, such as using Shift+A to turn off running OSnaps in the middle of the Line command.

Shortcut keys are for launching commands.

Well maybe I have been going about this all the wrong way. Here is what I am trying to do maybe you have a better idea how to make it happen.

I recently got a new mouse with extra buttons. I want one of the buttons to do a shift+right click for me. I am using a Logitech MX400 Laser Mouse.

Sorry maybe it would have been easier if I would have asked that in the first place.

Mouse buttons, although they are part of the CUI, can only be reliably setup using a combination of shortcut keys (to create a "command" for the mouse button) and the mouse driver itself. Once you have a desired shortcut key setup in the CUI, you need to assign that key combo in the mouse driver software to the desired button.
