My file save as is not working. When I select the file save as command the drawing area responds as if the command is in progress but no dialogue box appears. The quick save works just fine but I can't give the drawing a destination or save to a later version.

Has it only just started happening? First thing to try is restarting Autocad.

Also do other dialogue boxes come up okay, open for example?

Try setting FILEDIA to 1.

As Steve was aluding to, the dialog box is probably off the screen. Execute saveas, then hit alt+space, then m, and see if you can move it into view with the arrow keys (usually the left one).
