import image into a 3D view

I am trying to import a 3D p[erspective JPEG into a 3D view in revit but the option is greyed out. Any ideas on how i can overcome this problem.

Are you trying to use that image as a background?

You can place the image in a drafting view and then place the 3d view and drafting onto a sheet and overlay as needed.

the drafting view method works but it becomes very hard trying to get the same work plane as the building just doesn't sit right.
