View Full Version : Portral Frames in Revit Structures?

Am I missing something or can Revit Structures not do a typical (sloping) portal frame, which haunches either end and a gusset plate in the middle, without 'crooking' the system? Most of our work is in steel warehouses which we design and detail as portal frames, so would be extremely handy.

We do a lot of these as well & it seems that RST prefers flat framing, or rather flat members as opposed to tapered ones. There are families out there for portal frames but they dont seem to be too parametric. Our solution for the moment is to add a tapered column with the correct bottom size and some top size to indicate a tapered member. (so it shows as a taper in elev's & sec.'s) We then add normal straight beams with added slopes. OK it's a lousy solution but it works for now until I have time to create a proper family  It likely won't be too long before I need to make one :)
