Saving as a family

I have created some objects in my project and tried to save the object as a family but the only result that i got is a room tag family. I am doing something wrong. I need to reuse my on place created families as a family library.
Help please.

the "save as family" will only work on families created in 6.0 or later.

You can save loaded families in a project as .rfa files. You cannot save in-place families

What you can do with in-place families though, is copy and paste between projects.

You can also edit the in-place family and cut and paste all the elements out to an new external family of the same category...

You can also group the object(s) and then save the group out to a file. This can then be imported to other projects.
