Hello to all. I am new to your forums and I know nothing really of Autocad 2006 LT. I am hopeful that you can answer my question or direct me to the answer.I have a friend who uses AutoCad 2006 LT, Windows xp Pro, 3.gig dual core CPU, 2 gigsDDR 400 memory, 120 gig HD 7200 rpm. When he clicks the short cut for Autocad on his desktop it takes upwards of seven minutes to open the application and requires 1.56 gigs of memory and 50 %of the CPU's resources, this isn't what he is used to and does not know what changed. Once he has Autocad up and running he is able to open drawings without much problem. Is this normal for autocad or is there something I can change in his settings so that he doesn't have to wait 7 minutes to load anytime he opens this application. Thak you for any help you are so kind to offer.

First off, unplug the network cable (and any other network connections like VPN or wireless) and try again. Does it improve?
Secondly, take a look at this:

Only network cable is the one plugged into the broadband cable modem. Does that qualify to be unplugged. If so I will surely unplug it and try. Also I will definately try filemon found a refferance to that yesterday. Thanks again for your help

Yes - essentially remove all network connections and try.
If there is a missing path, and AutoCAD detects a network connection, it will try and resolve that path - maybe for minutes...
If there is no network connection, then AutoCAD doesn't try and just moves on.
Unplugging your network cable is a quick way to find this out....

Okay tested disconnecting the network cable still no thrills. I will have to make time to go back over to my friends house and try filemon and see what developes.

Just a quick note problem solved we just un-installed autocad and then re-installed it and load time is down to 2 minutes. Thanks again for your help.
