View Full Version : Dimension to Top of Railing
Has anyone figured out a workaround on how to dimension to the top of a railing in elevation that has a circular profile for a top rail? I know how to add a line to dimension to but I was wondering if something could be added to the profile.

Hi ctc,
Although there might be better ways, one quick and dirty way is to draw a small detail line (or a pair if need) and the dimension to the detail lines.
Cheers,

You might try making a very small straight segment at the top of your rail profile. In other words, don't make your profile perfectly round.

If you have a referance plane in the relevent spot in the baluster family or post baluster famly you can dimension to that.
