Adding text or null to Expressions

Is there a way to add text or null (nothing, just a space, like, uuh, nothing) to an expression?
I want to run an If/Then function and insert text or nothing if yes or no.
Also, is there a good solution to add commas to parcel labels longer than 1000 feet?
And why don't the labels have a "comma" option?
