Hi All
I have attached the pdf document of the project that i am working on and i am actually stuck on how to do the phasing or staging part to this building. we are required to do the building in stages as i have indicated on the drawings.
I intended to have something as follows:
Phase 1-Level 1 would be new construction.
Phase 2-Leve1(Phase 1) would be existing and a new building would be attached to the existing(phase 1)
Phase 3-ALL of phase 2 is existing and another new building would be attached to the existing
Phase 4-Show all as complete.
.Now i want to know how can i show phase a new in phase 1 but existing in phase 2, likewise for all others:
New construction in phase 2 as new and showing it as existing in phase 3.
Note:
I want to see the differences in the stages when i open each level/phase.
New in phase 1 should be new but in phase 2 should be shown as existing.
I hope you do get what i am trying to say and also i hope its possible to achieve. i could not attach the rvt file cos it was too big. Thanks. M a new learner on revit and kind of struggling to get my head around.

Thanks to any1 who can answer this asap!

Regards
Sharina

Sharina,
This is exactly what phasing is designed for in Revit.
Have you been through the tutorials on phasing? They should provide all the explanation you need.
You will essentially create the model exactly as you normally would but each element will be assigned to a specific phase. You can then create duplicate views of the model and each view will have phase filters applied to it. The phase filters control the graphic appearance of the elements based on which phase they have been assigned to.

Check out the tutorials and help files and if you are still stuck on specifics post again and hopefully we can give you a hand.

There is a recent BLOG post on phasing herewhich could help explain phasing:

Just make sure that each view of each phase is set to Show Previous + New (except for the last phase showing all complete). That will apply whatever overrides you have set for existing objects to any objects created in a prior phase in any given view.
