create tags

I am trying to understand this tag thing... I did a search but can't really find what I am looking for.
I have a Balancing Damper that I want to tag but when I tag by category it’s not there… So I go create a tag but what determents the category field?

The Comments, Mark, Type?
Any help would be great… thanks!!!

Try this template. It comes with the training files. Change the extension to .rft before using and create a new family using it. There is a family category for duct accessories. That may be what you are looking for. I haven't actually done what you are trying to do but that's my thoughts.

thanks... I will take a look at it... I have tried changing family category with no luck.

Maybe this will clear it up for me ... I must be missing something.

Open your balancing Damper...under settings what is the familycategory and parameter set to? Now in the tag library look for a tag that is the same category. Open the tag and define the "label" you want to tag...comment, mark or type.
