Hi thinhphamkts,

If you have a look through the hardware section of the forums, there is a wealth on info on video cards etc.

Firstly, even though I have 8gigs of ram, I would not try to rotate with shadows on. Way too slow. Switch the shadows off & if possible go to wire frame rather than shaded mode. THis will speed up everything substantially.

Secondly, check your open GL settings. (Advance Graphics - AG) Off / On? Whichever way it is, try it the other way and maybe it improves matters somewhat.

Hopefully this helps a bit.

Cheers,

Ian

i thinhk this problem is in VGA card, because if u have a big project etc : industrial area....with many component and many object, i think u set in hidden line mode and u rotate it, it's very low. Do u think Quadro or FireGL can fix it ? and follow u HD 4870 can't fix it? can u help me? i want to upgrade may system. can u help me?

My two cents, it probably won't "fix" it unless your standards are pretty low for the Fix. This is my biggest gripe with Revit as a designer.

We have Quadro 3500s or 3600s in all our machines, and it still crawls. It is better than on my home machine (Nvidia 7800, 3+ years old.) but only barely. You don't even notice it until you get into projects on the plus size of 200MB. Even then the difference is marginal.

If you spend the money, make sure you can return the card. Put it in and give it a try. There are some conditions where it will make a difference, but in my experience Revit barely uses the graphics card at all. You'd probably be better off with a faster CPU than a GPU upgrade.

about FireGL ? my CPU is Q9450, is it ok, i see it not enough. i want to ask: What's the main way to improve revit faster?

I agree entirely with Bill.

Good motherboard - good cpu - as much ram as you can use with your operating system = the best reasonable priced performance with Revit.

With my setup, which is all medium spec, I found that switching to Vista 64 bit OS which enabled me to up the ram to 8 gig was, for a few hundred dollars, a good economical way of improving Revit performance.

Cheers,

Ian

but i think that change CPU u must change motherboard, so upgrade GPU will save money.

do u think FireGL V3400 is a good choice? or how about u?
