missing imperial

When I installed the student version of Revit, it gave me the option of metric or imperial, but not both.

So now I have only metric templates and families.

How do I get the imperial stuff? Do I have to reinstall?

I found a link to some cab files in another post for the families and templates, but I don't know where to put them. (I'm a little confused...I somehow think I need .pat files)

any advice?

If you follow the link:

you will be able to download both NAImperial.cab and NAImperialTempl.cab

Use an extractor like Winzip (www.winzip.com (http://www.winzip.com)) to extract the content of these files. Just create the folder where you want the content to be and set your Revit to look for them at that folder. You can do that by setting it under the Options menu.
