View Full Version : Grade at structure in Elevation

I have never been able to figure out how to cut the Elevation right at the spot where the grade meets the foundation. It always cuts off the roof overhang.

I am in the situation right now where there is a large burm close to one of the elevations and the burm is obscuring the elevation view because I cant cut it close enough to the building.

It would be nice to be able to sketch a perimeter around the foundation and have the elevations use that.

Does anyone have any clean solutions for this?

Not "clean" solutions, no. The only one I can come up with is to use two elevation symbols. One whre the top cuts off below the roof, and another that stops at grade. Then you place one elevation ontop of the other, and you should be able to achieve the effect you want. I cannot remeber which has to go on top of which. You might just have to play with that.

You can try creating a new elevation that's cutting close enough to the foundation. Then you turn everything off and only leave the topography visible on that elevation view. In your actual elevation view, you do the inverse: leave all on but the topography. You can hide the elevation tag from the second elevation in plan. Once both elevations are set, drag both on top of each other on the sheet.

I just use a filled region and trace over it, then turn it off.

I use masked region with ground line traced on top as Scott said, and invisible lines to close. It can be mirrored to the opposite elevation if similar and adjusted to suit.

I have them as default in each elevation in the template ready to use until I decide to include a topo surface if required for 3D.

Same here...

Ok so its a 2 view stack of some kind or a filled region.

To avoid having to update a filled region ( I am very forgetfull!) I think I will try a topo view overlay

Thanks to all

PS anyone heard of any rumors that there is going to be an update to the site tools?
